Proteins
Structure: Proteins are macromolecules containing carbon, hydrogen, oxygen & nitrogen.
Types of proteins: All proteins fall into one of a total of seven different protein types. These include of transport proteins, hormones, structural proteins, contractile proteins, enzymes, and antibodies.
Function: Some proteins provide structural support and motion.
Why do we need to eat protein? Protein is essential to good health, you need to make bricks and mortar of the body, including muscle, bone, and blood.
How much proteins should we eat daily? Most adults need around 0.75g of protein per kilo of body weight per day (for the average woman, this is 45g, or 55g for men).
